UBC Outreach
Purpose
As a prominent advocate for bandura education, the UBC plays a pivotal role in fostering collaboration and promoting the cultural significance of the bandura. It aims to be a leading voice in preserving "kobzarstvo" within bandura education and commitment to the Poltavka bandura tradition. To do this, we have developed a strategic plan aimed at advancing bandura education and providing crucial financial support to our greater bandura community. Recent trends underscore the urgency of this endeavor, with an ever growing need to promote and showcase of the identify that is Ukrainian culture through performance opportunities within the bandura community. A comprehensive bandura education strategy, coupled with robust financial backing, will not only secure the future of instrumentalists but also cultivate a stronger foundation of support for bandura education initiatives across diverse communities. The proposed plan seeks to bolster the role of bandura education, outline supportive methods aligned with long-term goals, and establish clear strategies for implementation.
Vision
The Bandura Education Working Group envisions enhanced support for bandura camps and schools, focusing on instrument procurement, financial assistance, outreach, and networking. Initiatives include acquiring banduras from both domestic and Ukrainian sources, providing scholarships, facilitating networking opportunities, and organizing educational conferences and outreach events. Additionally, the establishment of a "Save-a-Bandurist" endowment aims to support musicians and refugees from Ukraine, fostering cultural exchange and collaboration.
Long Term Goals
Looking ahead, the UBC aims to establish fellowships, initiate a bandura exchange program, and fund full-time bandura instructors, ensuring a sustained commitment to bandura education beyond immediate needs. These initiatives reflect a broader vision for preserving ukrainian heritage and strengthening ties within the bandura community.
